SOS Children's Village Int sponsored the project in Bangladesh after its War of Liberation, which saw many orphan children needing a home. The concept is, a child looked after by a mother in a family is the best way to rear them to give them a chance in life.
The project brings home 150 very young orphan children under care of 15 'mothers'. They come from poor rural background. The project is to remain their roots, even after they set up their own life
The design attempts a close match to a Bangladeshi village in its layout, environment, structures, and technology to facilitate a close knit community behavior with which the inhabitants will be at home till each member sets up it own family.
